Yesterday, I accompanied Dana and Tracy to the Met. Sheesh that place is HUGE!!!! Anyhoo, we were there looking at art for one of Dana's classes...Art Appreciation, I think. We saw lots of wonderful sculptures from Roman times. We looked at some paintings by Picasso and Matisse. She was going to critique one of the Picasso's when she read the requirements .... it had to be of a living artist!!! So on we walked and walked and walked. Until we went into the Modern Art section of the museum.
There was a painting there that was soo beautiful...It was a painting of a landscape somewhere in Connecticut after a flood. But the interesting part of the painting was that all over the painting were the painters thoughts and memories of the the place...."this road goes to....", "this is where...", a diary for all to see...much like this xanga.
Then we ended up in the Egyptian Art display. This where they filmed "Maid in Manhattan". It was so cool.
Then off to find Asian Art. More specifically, Southeast Asian Art. More specifically Filipino Art. The Asian Art display was beautiful. They replicated what looked like a Shinto temple. The funny part of the trip was when we entered the elevator from one of the exhibits and there was a display as we entered the elevator. Dana goes "Are we moving?" Thinking that as the elevator moved down the display would change. hahaha
i guess you had to be there.
Alas, no Filipino Art....
Finally after what seemed like forever of walking...it was off to the land of favorite foods and deserts...Serendipity3.
I had a burger and chocolate meltdown cake...woo hoo!
Then it was off to Dylan's candy Bar. and then off home to Dana's. There, I waited for Reg and we watched "maid in manhattan" yes...we were inspired to watch after our trip..."that's where we sat...blah blah blah"
Over all a great day to hang out with Dana and Tracy. |
